The Town Board

The Town Board is responsible for maintaining highways and streets of the town of Cherry Valley, is responsible for the Board of Health and the Cherry Valley Health Center, and oversees the Town of Cherry Valley.

Town Clerk Office Hours: Wednesday evenings 7-9PM and Saturday mornings 8-11Am. To set up an appointment other than regular hours please contact the Town Clerk at (607) 264-3986. Hours are subject to change with prior notice given on Town Clerk Board at the Post Office and the Village/Town Clerk Offices and this website.

Town information and notices are also posted on the Town Clerk Board inside the Post Office foyer.

Town Board meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall.

The Cherry Valley Town Hall is located next to the Town Highway Department across from the Triangle Tavern on State Route 166 in the Village of Cherry Valley.


The Cherry Valley Town Planning Board

The Planning Board is appointed (non-salaried) and consists of seven members serving a term of seven years.

Town Planning Board meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM in the Town Barn.


Town of Cherry Valley Citizens Committee on Alternative and Renewable Energy

Meeting Times: First Tuesday of each month, 7pm at the Town Hall unless otherwise announced

Charge:

This citizens committee of the Cherry Valley Town Board is charged with identifying options to bring the Town of Cherry Valley to a sustainable future.

This committee will make recommendations to the Town Board on utilizing practical, local conservation measures and the development of alternative and renewable energy projects in the Town. This committee will be the fact finding arm of the Town Board, forging relationships with interested citizens, the CVCS, academia and potential partners in the private sector engaged in meeting the goals of the Town.


"Land Use Committee" Created

A new committee has been created to make land use recommendations to the Town Board, based on the adopted Comprehensive Plan.

The meetings will be held in the town barn at 6:00pm on the third Thursday of each month. The public is invited to attend.


The Cherry Valley Village Board

The Village Board is responsible for operating the village public works department, the care of the Cherry Valley Cemetery, enacting and enforcing village ordinances and setting village tax rates.

The Mayor is elected chief executive officer and has the authority to preside at the meetings of the board of trustees. The Mayor has the power to appoint all department heads and non-elected officers and employees, while the approval of the board of trustees is required. The grant of authority given to the mayor pursuant to the Village Law is to issue all licenses and perform marriages.
